What Republican Majorities Do

Scream about controversial artwork. Nothing else. All of this has happened before; and all of this will happen again.

  1. Ummm…it wasn’t a ‘republican majority’ that stopped this. In fact, there wasn’t a political action at all. And the statement, “Nothing else” is just silliness.

    It’s like you’re not even trying anymore…

    1. You don’t think a majority threatening to use its appropriations power to shut down an art exhibition is a “political action”?

      1. From the article: “Director Martin Sullivan announced the removal of A Fire in My Belly by artist David Wojnarowicz after conservative news service CNS wrote yesterday that the “Christmas-season exhibit,” which opened in October, used taxpayer money to indirectly fund an exhibition that includes imagery of genitalia, homoerotic situations, and Christ covered in ants.”

If the political pressure was part of that decision, the article doesn’t say that.

And again, the statement, “Nothing else” is just silly.

      2. That still doesn’t mean political pressure is what ended this exhibit.
